IBM Planning Analytics Utilities

We have created a selection of free and downloadable IBM Planning Analytics TurboIntegrator processes. Some deal with security issues and others are just enhancements to your IBM Planning Analytics environment.

Process Name: UTILITY – Define Dynamic Subsets that Potentially have Security Restrictions

• Description: This process will loop through all dimensions and search for a combination of element security and dynamic subsets that use MDX expressions.
• Parameters: Location for export file
• When to use: Use this when upgrading to PA version 2.0.9.1 (or later) to check for dynamic subsets that may be impacted due to a change in how PA assesses security within MDX expressions.

Process Name: UTILITY – Create a Cube

• Description: This process will create a new control cube with up to 20 dimensions.
• Parameters: Cube name, up to 20 dimension names
• When to use: Use this when you want to create “hidden” control cubes that must be enabled by users. Note that all dimensions must pre-exist.

Process Name: UTILITY – Build Base Level Subsets

• Description: This process will use an MDX expression to create a static subset consisting of all base level elements within a dimension, sorted alphabetically.
• Parameters: Dimension name, Subset name (the default is set to “Base Level”)
• When to use: Use this when you want to create a static subset that consists of all base level elements within a dimension. This process can be included within a chore to re-create the subset every night.

Process Name: UTILITY – Create CodeName and NameCode Aliases

• Description: This process will create and populate two aliases within a dimension. The first alias will use a format of Element Code – Description and the second alias will use a format of Description (Element Code).
• Parameters: Dimension name, alias name #1 (the default is set to “CodeName”), alias name #2 (the default is set to “NameCode”)
• When to use: Use this when you want to have alias values that allow your users to see both code names and descriptions. This is especially useful when converting to a new chart of accounts or anytime you need to train users about the elements within the model.

Process Name: UTILITY – Clear a Cube

• Description: The process will clear all data in a cube.
• Parameters: Cube name
• When to use: When to use: Use this when you want to clear all data from a cube. This can be used during development or anytime a new full data set will be loaded. This process should be used with caution since it will remove ALL data from a cube.
