In mid-2021 Revelwood announced a strategic partnership with BlackLine, a cloud-based finance and accounting platform. There are many clear benefits for Revelwood clients to add BlackLine to their best-of-breed solutions automating various activities in finance. The question for non-Revelwood clients might be: why turn to Revelwood for your BlackLine implementation?
First, let me tell you a little bit about me. I joined Revelwood several months ago as our Financial Close and Consolidation Practice Leader. My previous experience includes serving as director of financial systems and reporting, as well as other senior financial system roles with healthcare and manufacturing firms. My career trajectory is like that of some of my fellow Revelwoodians – coming from in-house roles as senior leaders and individual practitioners.
As a former accounting and financial systems administrator, I lived and breathed the accounting world for the past 20 years. At Revelwood we often say “we speak business first.” This is more than just a tagline – it’s the reality of what we bring to all our engagements. My background as a practitioner like you means I have a deep understanding of accounting processes and how they fit into the big picture for the Office of Finance. We focus on your business issues first, and the technology second.
So what does this mean to you? When we engage with a client on a new BlackLine implementation we take a holistic approach to your accounting solutions. We work with our clients to:
- Understand and document your current processes
- Identify the inefficiencies and offer ideas to improve these processes – both through using software and using the implementation cycle to make changes unrelated to software
- Provide you with the best long term solution for your organization
For example, we don’t just go in and roll out a solution for you. We examine what you currently have in place, identify what is working and what is not working and build out an action plan for more efficient accounting and accounting processes. Maybe you have a process where an account is reviewed monthly by two different people. We’ll question that process. Perhaps a better approach is to have that second review done quarterly instead of monthly. We work with you through the change management process.
Lastly, we’ve been in your shoes. We’ve been on the accounting team crunched for time, working on reconciling the numbers and hoping for a better way to do things. This means we understand not just what BlackLine can do for you, but also how to transform your approach to modern accounting.
